Our approach to society

We will be a company which creates positive spin-offs in society through our value creation, our contribution to progress and efficiency improvements at our clients, and our role as an employer.

Digitalisation is important for a sustainable development of society. We contribute within all societal sectors, and work to ensure that our services provide increased security and more efficient use of resources.

Solutions which will influence and create positive spin-offs for society are defined and developed in cooperation with our clients.

Our vision is that “we lead the way and build tomorrow’s society”, which means that we provide our unique expertise every day to meet society’s needs for present and future generations. Each employee and our company as a whole thereby contributes to social progress.

We initiated a project in 2019 to use podcasting as a platform for sharing our knowledge and commitment in technology and digital communication.

This is bringing IT experts, clients and local communities closer together through inspiring dialogue and discussion. We can share our expertise with clients, professional communities and others, and thereby contribute to Norway’s development as a technology nation.

Recruitment

A steady supply of highly competent personnel is crucial if a company like ours is to make progress in carrying out these important tasks. We consequently devote great attention to recruitment throughout the year.

Our way of doing business is based on the desire and ability of employees to collaborate, show team spirit and share knowledge. Such characteristics cannot be deduced from a CV alone. Our recruitment process includes assessments of personal qualities, education, experience and values which would allow candidates to thrive with us.

We believe growth must not be pursued at the expense of who we are. That is why we concentrate on the human perspective in our recruitment work. We want to present ourselves from the inside – what it is like to work here, the requirements set, the opportunities available, and duties and benefits for our employees.

Employees

Our workforce comprises engineers, designers, copywriters, economists, political scientists, psychologists, educators and anthropologists, who assist companies and public bodies in every sector.

Collectively, we offer solutions which contribute to stable energy supplies, a more effective public sector, more secure banks, a richer media picture, better health, safety and the environment in the oil sector, reduced administration for transport companies, and an improved customer experience in retailing.

We regard our employees as our most valuable resource, and make substantial efforts to give them opportunities to develop professionally and personally and to thrive with us.

Flexibility in projects, unique benefits, social interaction, professional development, training, annual pay discussions and assistance programmes – taken together, all this lays the basis for a good working environment with the emphasis on development.

Diversity and inclusion

We regard diversity and inclusion as a precondition for a modern business as well as for the functioning and success of a modern society. As a result, we work to create an employee environment where people have differing expertise and human qualities.

We will recruit and retain employees by seeing everyone as who they are – individuals with untapped resources, regardless of age, gender, nationality, religious convictions, sexual orientation or physical capabilities.

This allows us to provide better and more holistic advice, solutions and services, which is how we make our living. All employees are duty-bound to contribute to a positive and professional working environment. We treat each other with respect, and all forms of discrimination are unacceptable.

An important goal for us is creating an open environment which provides genuine opportunities for all, where each individual feels they are seen, secure and wanted, and where they can contribute with all their resources.

We encourage and make provision for team work, sharing and community spirit, regardless of who each of us is.

We are working actively to increase the female proportion in the IT sector’s workforce. Women in Bouvet is a network where our female employees can meet and increase awareness of diversity and gender balance.

Diversity also extends to professional background. A growing proportion of our assignments require a cross-disciplinary approach. We put together people, tools and methods to create a team which can come up with integrated solutions and results.

Our ability to work across disciplines is an important reason why many of our clients show renewed confidence in us by awarding or expanding assignments. This versatility is important if we are to provide advice, solutions and services which see the overall picture at our clients.

Health and safety

The employer is responsible for the working environment – and the goal for our health, safety and environmental (HSE) work is to prevent accidents, environmental harm and damage to health, and to contribute to greater job satisfaction, lower sickness absence and reduced personnel turnover.

Our working environment committee (AMU) is the driving force in the HSE work we pursue. All offices have an elected safety delegate responsible for looking after employee interests in cases related to the working environment.

In addition to secure and healthy working conditions, we also offer opportunities for health assistance and psychological help at reduced rates.

The IT sector and our societal role

Technology and digitalisation are important drivers, and provide big opportunities in the development of tomorrow’s sustainable society. We have a responsibility to ensure that the IT sector has a voice in this process.

We discharge this by becoming involved, cooperating with various societal players and enterprises, and being present and visible in a number of arenas. Taking an active role is inherent in our vision. We will be a company which creates positive spinoffs in society.

One area where we work together with the industry is defining a national technology agenda in line with developments in society. Another initiative is a collaboration between the ICT Norway industry association and a number of educational institutions on integrating sustainability in IT education.

This initiative is an example of encouraging collaboration between public and private sector enterprises in order to ensure that students acquire a competence which is tailored to and relevant for tomorrow’s society.

With sustainability on the agenda, employees and companies obtain more relevant expertise for delivering in line with new social requirements.

Projects and partners like this are important for us when we are accepting responsibility for and a role in the development of a future society which is both sustainable and equitable.

Data security and protection

Information security is more important than ever, both because of an increasingly complex IT infrastructure and as a result of sharply rising data criminality. We work in a structured way on security, and are certified to ISO 27001 for all processes and parts of our organisation.

Our concentration on security is entrenched in the board, the management and all our employees through “security in our DNA”, which was defined in 2019 as the programme with our highest priority.

This involves a complete review of security in all existing projects. Extensive expertise mapping and training related to security are also being conducted with all employees.
